I realize that when you make long term plans, like training to running a stupid amount of distance, there are going to be pitfalls involved. I just wasn't expecting them quite so soon. But that's the point, isn't it? You don't expect them.
Monday's training got derailed by my trainer getting stuck in a business meeting. When you own a business or are part of a business, business meetings happen. And they run longer than intended. Or the presenter was late and talked long. Or the presenter didn't show at all, so the owner is ad-libbing (this was the scenario Monday.). It happens. We move on. Oh, look. A turtle.
Wednesday got sidetracked by me having a kiddo home sick. By the time my training time came around, she was asking to go outside and ride her bike, so she wasn't THAT sick. But gyms and other fitness arenas tend to look down on you bringing sickies to their places. Too sick to go to school equals too sick to go play, so home I stayed. Wow. Another turtle...
Friday was just plain silliness. Both of us (myself and my trainer) forgot that there was no school that day and kiddos were at home. Well, crud. That just shot the whole week in the foot. Does that turtle look familiar to you?
At least I got some long walks in. And by long walks I mean walking around the neighborhood with my girls, stopping at every house possible, as they attempt to sell Girl Scout cookies. And despite logging in close to 6 miles this week, that doesn't even come close to being a cardio workout. However, the yelling at them as they're whining and complaining about who took who's house and all that, should DEFINITELY count as my cardio.
So I read about running. I read about proper form and I read about shoes. I read about proper eating for training and non-training days. I read about stretches for after runs and stretches for pre-run. I read about yoga and weights for cross-training days. And I read about rest days. I don't think that bit has clicked yet. That I get 2 whole days a week to not train. TWO! Who'd a thunk it???
Let's not forget dealing with my body. Apparently, my digestive system wants to eat like we did last week and doesn't want to listen when I tell it to shut up and accept the water being thrown at it. Last week, it was getting lovely carbs and whatnot. Now its water. Sorry. I believe that if I don't train that week, I don't get to eat like I trained that week. Yoga notwithstanding. But it is becoming obvious that both my children and dog listen better than my stomach does.
Oh, look. I just got lapped. Again. By that stupid turtle...
